HOMER HIGHLIGHTS: Meet Larissa, Our Office Manager!

From our animators, content creators, and graphic designers all the way through to our finance managers, we have so many passionate people bringing #kidpoweredlearning to life here at HOMER. In this series, we’ll introduce you to the team, one by one.

Next up: Larissa Kruesi, HOMER’s culture guru!

What do you do at HOMER?

Office Manager

What’s your favorite part about your job?

Planning our team-building events! We have a really amazing and engaged team, so it’s always fun to find new activities that our team will enjoy and that support our culture and mission.

Which interests would you pick in the HOMER app?

Friendships, Fairy Tales, Wild Animals

What were you passionate about as a kid and how has that shaped you into the adult you are today?

Reading! I loved getting lost in stories and meeting all these different characters; some who I thought were just like me and some who were so exciting because I didn’t know anyone like them. I frequently forced my elementary school friends to re-enact my favorites. I also loved music and learning about history. I still love reading and storytelling today, and think that stories (and the arts in general) are vital to helping children grow, communicate, and learn.

What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?

Take a train across all of Europe, try to play an electric guitar, drive all of CA Route 1.

What are the words you live by?

Treat others how you want to be treated.

Who is your favorite HOMER character?

Millie

What are your top 3 emojis and what does that say about you?

😂 I love to laugh…and I laugh a lot.

❤️ It never hurts to show some love.

👏 I’m here for the applause – let’s cheer on others!

What would your band name be?

Oh boy, I’d love to have a clever answer for this but it would probably be something pretty silly. Let me cross “try to play the electric guitar” off my bucket list, and I’ll get back to you.

What does reading mean to you?

Reading is still one of my favorite things; I love being drawn into really good stories. It’s how I relax and continue to learn, and it makes taking the subway a lot more enjoyable.
